Guillaume was born in 1777.1   Guillaume's father was William Gilchrist and his mother was Suzanne Roy.  His paternal grandparents were John Gilchrist and Beatrice Ronnald; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Roy dit Chaelleraut and Perrine Lacour. He had a brother and eight sisters, and also three siblings of unknown gender, named Charles, Perine, Marie, Suzanne, Adelaide, Marie, Juliana, Victoire, Euphrosine, Ozite, Absalom and Celestine.1

‌Guillaume and Marguerite were married in a religious ceremony in 1800.1
