"Albert DeCuir came to Louisiana on 11 August 1720, aboard the sloop "La Loire", the same ship on which two of his future sons-in -law also arrived. Jacques DeCoux and Valentin Joseph Daublin. A son and daughter accompanied him, according to the ships passenger list. There is no mention of a wife, or the two other children who are known to have been his. A great many of those engaged, as was DeCuir, for the Ste. Reyne concession were form Hainault, indicating that here was a recruitment about that time in the area. DeCuir's occupation is listed as "miner", which is plausible, since the area of the French fromtier was a significant mining area."[barre.FTW]
