George Belcher 
George was born about 1760 in Amelia County, Virginia.1 George's father was Isham E. Belcher and his mother was Elizabeth Clay. His paternal grandparents were RICHARD D. Belcher and MARY Obedience Clay. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Joab Moses, William, James, Richard, Isham Alexander, John T., Samuel, Jesse, Sarah Mary, Lucy, Phebe and Martha. George Belcher enlisted in Capt. James Foster's Company, FifteenthVirginia Regiment, Lt. Col. Innes commanding, Jan 20, 1777, and participated in the battles of Morristown, White Plains, Middle Brook and other engagements. He spent a winter at Valley Forge. Migrating to the then Floyd County, Ky., now Pike County, about 1805, he served as Floyd County Justice of the Peace. There is tradition that George Belcher went to Ohio in search of land and died there and was buried at North Bend, near Cincinnati.
