Nathan was born in Morgan County, Georgia.1 Nathan's father was RICHARD WILLIAM BASSETT and his mother was ANN. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, Ezekiel, Kilby, Richard William, Elizabeth, Mary, Nancy Ann White, Sarah and Polly.General Notes

1838 - WILL OF RICHARD BASSETT SR: "I give to my son Nathan Bassett one tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and sixty acres be the same more or less lying and being in Tallapoosa County and State of Alabama which land I purchased of Henry Williamson and whose bond I now hold for title -- I also give him one horse worth fifty dollars." (Harris County Georgia Will Book A, 1833-1859, pages 59,60)
