Her paternal grandparents were Johann Voltine Wehmeyer and UNKNOWN Mary. She had a brother and six sisters, named Frederick, Eleanor Malinda, Rosannah, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Catherine and Margaret. She is the fourth oldest of the eight children. She had seven half-brothers named Daniel, Valentine Frederick, Jacob, David, Henry, Rudolph and Solomon.-
