John Rudolph Waymire (originally Wehmeyer) was an officer in the body guard of Frederick the Great.
He was made a provincial governor. Left Hamburg, Germany for America aboard the ship "Leathley"
with Father, Mother, 2 sisters, wife, and children. Landed Philadelphia, PA 19 Sept 1753. Settled in
rural PA. Moved to Randolph Co., NC in1757.

Battle of Dettingen am Main:
This was the last and final battle in a series of clashes caused by the wars of the Austrian succession.
Maria Theresa of Austria was appointed as successor to the throne of the Habsburg monarchy. This succession by a female cause political troubles in the surrounding countries. The Austrians succeeded in obtaining the support from Hungary, Prussia, the Low Countries, Russia and England. France was the formidable opponent. On June 27, 1743 the so-called "pragmatic" allied army under the command of King George Ii of England fought the last and decisive battle at Dettingen am Main against a French army under the command of Marshall Naoilles. This battle was won by the allied forces.
