Francis was born about 1549 in Leck, Lancashire, England.  Francis' father was James WHITTINGTON and his mother is Mrs-James WHITTINGTON.  His paternal grandfather is Reynold WHITTINGTON. He had three brothers and a sister, named Richard, Thomas, John and Margaret.  He is the second oldest of the five children.
