John VAN HOUTEN 
John was born on July 7th, 1762 in Pompton Township, Passaic, Nj and his baptism took place in Pompton Plains, Morris, New Jersey. John's father was Pieter VAN HOUTEN and his mother was Rachel LYONS OR LYNE. His paternal grandparents were Adrian Pieter C. VAN HOUTEN and Augenietje BOOGAERD; his maternal grandfather was Coenrad LEIN and his maternal grandmother is Catherine REITAN. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Adrian, Adrian, Peter, Coenraed, Adriaan, Catherine, Mary, Agnes, Eleanor, Rebecca and Annaetye. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children.
