Nancy was born about 1808 in , Halifax, Virginia. Nancy's father was George Thaxton and her mother was Sarah Bailey. Her paternal grandparents were Abel Thackston and Lucy Davis; her maternal grandfather was Yancey Bailey and her maternal grandmother is Sarah FAWLKES. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Jordan Reese, James M., Lucy, Parmelia and Parthena. She was the third oldest of the six children.-
