Benjamin D. was born on February 13th, 1795 in Prince Edward Co., VA. Benjamin D.'s father was John Thaxton and his mother was Nancy Ann Wilkerson. His paternal grandparents were James X Thaxton and Elizabeth Clarke; his maternal grandfather is Lovel Wilkerson. He had two sisters named Elizabeth Ann and Sarah. He was the oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 66 on January 17th, 1862 in Mercer Co., MO.-
