Susan was born on September 16th, 1840 in Duncansville, Blair Co., PA. Susan's father was Christian Snyder and her mother was Barbara Stiffler. Her maternal grandparents were Henry Stiffler and Nancy Hoover. She had two brothers and five sisters, named John, Henry H., Mary, Nancy, Catherine, Sarah and Jane H..
