Nancy was born in 1736 in Amelia, , Orangeburg, SC.  Nancy's father was Freeman SNELLGROVE.  Her paternal grandfather was Henry SNELLGROVE. She had three brothers named John, Edward Freeman and W. Henry.  She is the oldest of the four children.
