Mattie SHELTON

Mattie was born on March 2nd, 1868 in 4th Civil District, Coffee, Tn. Mattie's father was Bartley Martin SHELTON and her mother was Elizabeth Ann (Betty) CAWTHORN. Her paternal grandparents were Jessee SHELTON and Nancy MONTGOMERY; her maternal grandparents are Jessee CAWTHORNE and Tabitha COTHERON. She had two brothers and three sisters, and also two siblings of unknown gender, named Jessee Gackson, Charles Edward, Nancy "Nannie", Sarah "Sallie", Tabitha Jane, UNKNOWN and W. B.. She was the second oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 70 on May 22nd, 1938.
