One of the truly great Presidents of the United States, Teddy Roosevelt was a man of intense conviction and principle, a visionary leader for social and political justice. He was a conservationist at a time when no one thought about the need forconservation, establishing 5 National Parks, 18 National Monuments and placing 230 million acres of wild lands under federal protection. T.R. was instrumental in the building of the Panama Canal and won the Nobel Peace Prize for helping tonegotiate a peace between Russia and Japan. A terrific father and family man, he was the inspiration for the Teddy Bear.
