John RANKIN 
John was born on June 27th, 1736 in Newark, DE. John's father is Joseph RANKIN. He was an only child. He died at the age of 77 on March 27th, 1814 in , Guilford, NC. He was buried in Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Guilford, NC.General Notes
John Rankin, a son of Joseph, was born near Newark, Delaware on 27 June 1736. In 1764, he came to that part of Rowan County which became Guilford County in 1770 and located nine miles east of Greensboro. He was married to Hannah Carson just before or within a year after coming to North Carolina. John filed his will in Guilford County on 20 July 1812. He died on 27 Mar 1814 and is buried in the old Buffalo Presbyterian Church. Hannah filed her will in Guilford County on 30 Apr 1814 and the will was proven in August of that year; she is at rest beside her husband.
John and Hannah were married in a religious ceremony about 1770. They had a daughter named Jane.

Jane was born on June 15th, 1771 in , Guilford, Nc. She died at the age of 51 on September 10th, 1822 in , Guilford, Nc. She was buried in Alamance Church, Guilford, Nc.
