Thomas I was born in 1438 in Of Llandaf Court, Cibwr, Glamorgan, Wales and his baptism took place in {gwaithfoed}. Thomas I's father was Dafydd MATHEW and his mother is Gwenllian Verch DAFYDD. His paternal grandfather was Mathew Ap IEUAN and his paternal grandmother is Jonet FLEMING; his maternal grandparents are Dafydd Ap GWILYM and Gwenllian Verch PHILIP. He had eight brothers and three sisters, named John, Rimron, William "Fawr", John, David, Jenkin, William "Leia", Morgan, Jane, Margred and Ellen. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 32 in 1470. He was buried in St. Marks Gaunts, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.General Notes
