Samuel Asbury was born on December 29th, 1871 in Legg Fork of Tuppers Creek, Kanawha Co., WV. Samuel Asbury's father was John Calvery Legg and his mother was Sarah Elizabeth Meeks. His paternal grandparents were Achilles Anderson Legg and Mary Aurilla Monday; his maternal grandparents are Jacob Meeks and UNKNOWN Lively. He had seven brothers and eight sisters, named Floyd Preston, Elvin Greenberry, Ulysses Grant, Luther Harris, John Carglie, Zachariah, Kellis Winston, Mary Leona, Martha Jane, Cora Ellen, Recy Ann, Elizabeth Frances, Cecelia Ernestine, Melissa Mae and Nirama Credella. He was the second oldest of the sixteen children. He died at the age of 87 on June 29th, 1959 in Kanawha Co., WV.-
