Her paternal grandparents were Achilles Anderson Legg and Mary Aurilla Monday; her maternal grandparents are Jacob Meeks and UNKNOWN Lively. She had eight brothers and seven sisters, named Floyd Preston, Samuel Asbury, Elvin Greenberry, Ulysses Grant, Luther Harris, John Carglie, Zachariah, Kellis Winston, Mary Leona, Cora Ellen, Recy Ann, Elizabeth Frances, Cecelia Ernestine, Melissa Mae and Nirama Credella. She is the seventh oldest of the sixteen children.-
