Alexander KEELE 
Alexander was born on February 25th, 1822 in , Bedford County, Tn. Alexander's father was Richard John KEELE and his mother was Nancy Eleanor (Ellen) MCCULLOUGH. His paternal grandparents are John KEELE and Nancy Ellener PARMER; his maternal grandparents are Thomas MCCULLOUGH and Mary UNKNOWN. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Jacob, Samuel, John, Richard, Dabney Uel, Thomas Henery, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah (Sally) and Susan. He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 31 on July 18th, 1853 in Payson, Utah, Ut. He was buried on July 21st, 1853 in Payson, Utah, Ut.General Notes

The next day, July 18th, Walker broke camp and went to Payson, joined his brother Arropeen, another Indian chief, and together they traveled into Payson Canyon, killing Alexander Keele who was on guard at the outskirts of Payson, saying that the war would last until the white people were all exterminated. It was not until May of 1854 that President Young entered into a treaty of peace with Chief Walker at Chicken Creek, Juab County, thus ending what is known as the Walker or Ute War.

In the spring of 1858 an Indian war broke out. It commenced at Payson and was called the Walker War. The Indians killed a man named Keele. They then went up Spanish Fork Canyon, passed over to Mt. Pleasant and would have massacred all the families there if it had not been for the timely aid of Nephi. I took the express to Fillmore. I had to swim the Sevier River and from that time on we were in a state of siege. We tore down our houses and made a fort of them. We lived in that kind of stockade for two years, then President Young told us to build a Spanish wall around nine blocks, which we did. It was six feet on the bottom, twelve feet high and two and one-half feet at the top with two heavy gates. When we got that completed we felt quite secure. We had three days of feasting and dancing and had a glorious time.
