Martha was born on June 26th, 1743 in Norwalk, Fairfield, Connecticut. Martha's father was EZRA HOYT and her mother is Phebe Benedict. Her paternal grandfather was DANIEL HOYT and her paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Keeler; her maternal grandparents were JOHN BENEDICT and MARY HAITE. She had five brothers and four sisters, named EZRA, Thaddeus, Matthew, John, Jonathan, Anna, Lydia, Elizabeth and Phebe. She is the fifth youngest of the ten children.-
