EZRA HOYT 
EZRA was born on March 24th, 1735 in Norwalk, Fairfield, CT. EZRA's father was EZRA HOYT and his mother is Phebe Benedict. His paternal grandfather was DANIEL HOYT and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Keeler; his maternal grandparents were JOHN BENEDICT and MARY HAITE. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Thaddeus, Matthew, John, Jonathan, Anna, Lydia, Martha, Elizabeth and Phebe. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 66 on June 11th, 1801 in New Haven, Addison, VT.General Notes
Note: Ezra ( 2nd ) was baptized on March 23 1735/36. He was a merchant, in a small way, keeping his merchandise in a room at his house. Before the revolution he moved from Norwalk, Ct., to Lanesboro, Mass., became a merchant there, and was living there in 1786, when his father,s will was made. After this he moved to New Haven, Vt., and died there. He seems to have been a man of considerable prominance and wealth; a member of the committee of safety. He belonged to the Presb. church. ; was a tithing-man, and once made an unsuccessful attempt to stop Ethan Allen as he was passing on the Sabbath. On Nov. 29, 1780 the assembly of Mass. chose Ezra as," Muster Master of Berkshire Mass.," He was baptized March 23, 1735-36.
