Harriet was born on March 9th, 1882. Harriet's father was Martin C. Hoover and her mother was Susan Elizabeth Acker. Her paternal grandparents were John Puderbaugh Hoover and Christina Brumbaugh Hoover. She had a brother and six sisters, named Levi, Amanda A., Margaret, Ida May, Lavada, Jane and Susanna.
