William was born in 1647.1   William's father was William Hallett and his mother was Elizabeth Fones.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Fones and Anne Winthrop. He had a brother named Samuel.  He was the older of the two children. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named John, Robert, Martha Johanna, Elizabeth, Hannah and Sarah.  He died at the age of 103 in 1750 in New Town, Long Island, NY.1

‌William and Sarah were married in a religious ceremony in December 1669 in Newtown, Newtown, Suffolk, New York, USA.2   They had five sons and five daughters, named William, George, Richard, Moses, Joseph, Rebecca, Mary, Elizabeth, Charity and Sarah.
