Wilhelm IV "The Wise" Landgrave Of was born on June 24th, 1532 in Kassel, Hessen-Nassau, Prussia and his baptism took place on August 8th, 1532. Wilhelm IV "The Wise" Landgrave Of's father was Philipp I "The Magnanimous" Landgrave Of HESSE-KASSEL and his mother was Christine Princess Of SAXONY. His paternal grandparents were Wilhelm II "der Mittlere" Landgrave Of HESSE and Anna Princess Of MECKLENBURG; his maternal grandparents were Georg "The Bearded", Duke Of SAXONY and Barbara Princess Of POLAND. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Philipp Ludwig Prince Of, Ludwig IV "The Elder" Landrave Of, Philipp II "The Younger" Landgrave Of, Georg I "The Pious" Landgrave Of, Agnes Princess Of, Anna Princess Of, Barbara Countess Of, Elisabeth Princess Of and Christine Princess Of. He was the third oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 60 on August 25th, 1592 in Cassel, Hessen-Nassau, Prussia.
