Joan De was born about 1248 in Of, , Derbyshire, England.  Joan De's father was William FERRERS and her mother was Margaret De QUINCY.  Her paternal grandparents were William De FERRERS and Agnes De MESCHINES; her maternal grandparents were Roger De QUINCY and Helen (Elena) Of GALLOWAY. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Robert, William De, Agnes De and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the five children. She had a half-brother and seven half-sisters, named John De, Agnes De, Isabella De, Maud (Matilda) De, Sibyl De, Joan De, Agatha De and Eleanor De.  She died in Berkeley Castle, Berkeley, Gloucestershire, England.  She was buried in St Augustines, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.

‌Joan De and Thomas were married in a religious ceremony in 1267.  They had three sons and three daughters, named John De, James De, Maurice, Margaret De, Isabel De and Alice De.
