Sidney Theophilus Epperson 
Sidney Theophilus was born on January 28th, 1854 in Provo, Utah, Utah, USA. Sidney Theophilus' father was Sidney Hiram EPPERSON and his mother was Mary Jane Robey. His paternal grandparents were Elias EPPERSON and Nancy Lunica DALTON; his maternal grandparents were Jeremiah ROBEY and Ruth TUCKER. He had nine brothers and three sisters, named Charles Alonzo, Jeremiah Albert, Elias Tipton, Robert Ross, William Henry, Simon Shelby, Daniel David, Frank Sherman, Elmer Drew, Mary Luverna [Molly], Viola Delphinia and Ruth Lunica. Sidney Theophilus (Offie) Epperson, the first child of 10 boys and 3 girls
of Sidney Hiram Epperson (first Presiding Elder of Midway) had his life
over shadowed by a young and great father. He married Eliza Van Wagenen, the
first child of another great Midway family (David Van Wagenen the first Bishop
of Midway). (Eliza had seven brothers and four sisters). "Offie" was a
loving person, very athletic, and an excellent wrestler. Early in his married
life he fractured his hip, and ever after he walked slowly and with difficulty.
The family moved to Provo, Utah, about 1896 when Lawrence the oldest son was
about 12. Offie's family enjoyed the better schools in Provo, and his sons
were outstanding at Brigham Young Acadamy in Music, baseball and track,
and student leadership positions.
