John Calvin was born on March 21st, 1868 in Lanark, Carroll Co., IL. John Calvin's father was Henry Hoover Dilling and his mother was Sarah Nicodemus. His paternal grandparents were Henry Puderbaugh Dilling and Elizabeth Hoover. He had four brothers and six sisters, named George Nicodemus, Andrew D., Charles H., Joseph J., Harriet A., Mary Jane, Kate, Emma, Maggie and Ella. He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 67 on July 12th, 1935 in Canton, Stark Co., OH.-
