Jourdon was born about 1815.  Jourdon's father is William Childers and his mother was Jane Higginbotham.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph S. Higginbotham and Mary Reed. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Henry, Lewis, Joseph, John, Oliver J., Francis M., Robert J. and Mary.
