Orville Southerland was born on November 25th, 1814 in Plymouth, Chenango, Ny. Orville Southerland's father was Johnathan Upham COX and his mother was Lucinda BLOOD. His paternal grandparents were Walter COX and Judith DELAND; his maternal grandfather was Caleb BLOOD and his maternal grandmother is Hepzibah JEWETT. He had eight brothers and three sisters, named William Upham, Charles Benjamin, Frederick Walter, Jonathan, Augustus, Samuel Leach, Amos, Jonathan Upham, Harriet Lucinda, Esther and Mary Elizabeth. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 73 on July 4th, 1888 in Fairview, Sanpete County, Ut.
