Thomas De was born about 1248 in Of, Tonbridge, Kent, England.  Thomas De's father was Richard De CLARE and his mother was Maud De LACY.  His paternal grandparents were Gilbert De CLARE and Isabel MARSHALL; his maternal grandparents were John De LACY and Margaret De QUINCY. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Gilbert 'The Red Earl', Bevis (Bogo) (Benet) De, Robert (Richard) De, Isabel De, Margaret De, Maud De, Roese (Rohesia) De and Eglentine De.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died in Of, Thomond, Connaught, County Clare, Ireland.
