Joan was born about 1406 in Of, Westminster, Middlesex, England.  Joan's father was John "Fairborn" BEAUFORT and her mother was Margaret De HOLAND.  Her paternal grandparents were John Beaufort Plantagenet and Catherine De ROET; her maternal grandparents were Thomas de Holand and Alice Fitzalan of Arundel. She had four brothers and a sister, named Henry, John, Thomas, Edmund and Margaret.  She was the third youngest of the six children.  She died on July 15th, 1445 in Dunbar Castle, Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland.  She was buried on November 22nd, 1445 in Charterhouse, Perth, Perthshire, Scotland.


Joan's first family with James Stewart

‌Joan and James were married in a religious ceremony in 1438 in , St Andrews, Fifeshire, Scotland.  They had two sons, and also a child of unknown gender named John, James "Hearty James" and Andrew.

‌Joan and James I were married in a religious ceremony in St. Mary, Overy, Southwark, Surrey.  They had two sons and six daughters, named Alexander Prince Of, James II, Margaret Princess Of, Isabella Elizabeth Princess Of, Joan, Mary Princess Of, Annabella Princess Of and Eleanor Princess Of.
