His paternal grandparents were Edward BEESON and Rachel "Immigrant" PENNINGTON; his maternal grandparents were John "Immigrant" GRUBB and Frances VANE. He had six brothers and three sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named John, Richard, Benjamin, William, Stephen, Isaac, Phebe, Rachel, Charity and <Unknown>.
