Joan (Maud) was born about 1404 in Grafton, Northamptonshire, Eng.¹ Joan (Maud)'s father was Richard Woodville and her mother was Elizabeth (Mary) Bodulgate. Her paternal grandparents were John De Wydeville and Isabel Godard; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Bittlesgate and Joan De Beauchamp. She had a brother and three sisters, named Richard, Joan (Maud), Elizabeth and Elizabeth. She was the second oldest of the five children.¹
