Emperor Byzantine Empire and Nicea was born about 1175 in Of, Nicaea, Bursa, Turkey.1   Emperor Byzantine Empire and Nicea's father was Manolis Laskaris and his mother was Ioanna Karatzaina or Phokaina.  His maternal grandparents were I Theodore and dau of Alexios III Eufrozina. He had six brothers named Manolis, Georgios, Emperor Of The Laskaris IX, Alexios, Isaak and Duke Laskaris.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died in August 1222.1
