Hugh was born in 0860.1 Hugh's father was Duke Of Burgundy Richard and his mother was Adelaide de Burgundy. His paternal grandparents were Bivin Ou Bouin De Vienne and Richilde De Bourgogne; his maternal grandparents were Conrad II de Burgundy and Ermentrude Countess Of Auxerre. He had four sisters named Alice de, Ermengarde de, Richilde De and Adelaide Of. He was the oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother named Gebuin.
