Frederick Royse wrote his will on Sept. 24, 1825, probated on February 13, 1826 and the estate was closed on February 10, 1834, all
in Washington Co., Indiana. His will mentions his wife, Sarah, and names his children: John Royse, Hannah Campell, William Royse, Martin Royse, Gabriel Royse, Sarah Nugent, Rebeckah McFall, Lydia Vanlandingham, Betsey Edmondson and Benjamin Royse. His son, Gabriel Royse, was Executor. Witnesses to the will were: W(illiam) A. Bowles [a Docotor], Theodore Cathin [a merchant] and Elizabeth Peleon. [ibed. Dinn, pg 50.]

Frederick Royse may have been born in Virginia or what is now WestVirginia. He married Sarah DeWitt, daughter of Peter and Jane DeWittand they had ten children, one of whom was Gabriel Royse.
Frederick was in Bedford County PA Rangers during the RevolutionaryWar. He was enrolled as Frederick "Rice." Between 1783 -1799 births ofhis children are recorded in the Bardstown KY LEDGER. Moved to Clark'sGrant, Indiana, about 1799, after holding lands in Turkeyfoot TWPBedford County PA, West VA (then VA) and in Kentucky. Bought 1500acres in 1812 which were sold in 1815. Fred and Sarah's graves were onoriginal farmstead in Washington County, IN but plowed over by aGabriel T. Royse (not their son but a later Gabriel) and lost.Frederick may also have served in the Hampshire Co. Va. militia
