Joan was born about 1363 in Axholme, Lincoln, England.1   Joan's father was John De Mowbray and her mother was Elizabeth Segrave.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mowbray and Joan De Lancaster Plantagenet; her maternal grandparents were John Segrave and Duchess Norfolk Plantagenet Marshall Margaret. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Earl of Nottingham de Mowbray, Duke Of Norfolk De Mowbray Thomas, Margaret de and Eleanor.  She died after November 30th, 1402 in Tunstall, Lancashire, England.1

‌Joan and Sir Thomas were married in a religious ceremony about 1381 in Axholme, Lincoln, England.1   They had a son and a daughter, named Thomas and Maud.
