Skelfi was born in 0480.1 Skelfi's father was Halfdan "The Old" Hringsson King in Ringerik and his mother was Almveigu Eymundsdatter. His paternal grandparents were Hring Raumsson and Miss Vifilsdatter; his maternal grandfather was Eymund King of Holmgard. He had three brothers named Lofdi, Hildi and Budli.
