Her paternal grandparents were William Lord Montacute and Elizabeth De Montfort; her maternal grandparents were William de Grandison and Sybil De Tregoz. She had three brothers and four sisters, named John, William, Robert, Elizabeth, Anne (Anneys), Sybil and Maud Phillipa. She was the third youngest of the eight children.
