Thibaut was born in 0990.1 Thibaut's father was Geoffrey II of Semur and his mother was Maud Mathilda De Chalons. His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey I of Semur and Dalmace De Brioude; his maternal grandparents were Lambert de Chalons and Adelaide Adelais De Bourgogne. He had two brothers named Dalmace I of and Geoffroi Ier. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 75 in 1065.1 General Notes
