Edward was born on October 28th, 1591 in Panfield, Essex Co, England and his baptism took place there on October 28th, 1591.1 Edward's father was John Bangs and his mother was Jane Chavis. His paternal grandparents were Richard Bangs and Margaret ?. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John, James, Jonas, Sampson, Joshua, Lydia, Jane and Pandora. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He died due to old age in Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts, USA age 86.1 General Notes

Came on the "Anne" in 1623 from Chichester, England. In 1643 he was on the ATBA list (Able to Bear Arms) from the town of Plymouth, MA. A shipwright, he superintended the building of the first ship, a barque, at Plymouth; later, after 1657, he was a merchant. Freeman, 1633. His will, dated 11 Oct 1674 or 19 Oct 1677, mentions his daughters HOWES, HIGGINS, DONE, HALL, MERRICK and ATWOOD, children of daughter Rebecca, deceased, and sons John, Joshua, and Jonathan.
