1 (FHL #974.68 D2j)
Information in this database, "dting", is a complitation of data from many sources, some primary, but most secondary. It should be used with caution and as a basis for further research. D.B.von Ting does not certify the accuracy of any of the
Birth place alternatively given as Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire.
J.L. Chester 1888, New England Genealogical Society Register vol. 38,
pp. 160-170. Named in father's will dated 16 January 1552/3, age
under 23, hence born after 1529. Chester speculated that this
Richard was the Richard of Cholsbury whose will was proven 16 May
1633, naming sons Nathaniel, Joseph, and Timothy, daughters Mary,
Hannah, Christian, and Sarah.
P.H. Haselton 1989, The English Ancestry of Joseph and Sylvester
Baldwin, p. 15. This Richard is known to have died childless, hence
not the Richard whose sons went to America. This latter is
identified as Richard Baldwin (i.e., not numbered) of this file.
P.H. Haselton 1989, The English Ancestry of Joseph and Sylvester
Baldwin, p. 20. He was not named in his mother's will of 1566, thus
presumably died before 1565. See also P.H. Haselton 1997, Memoranum:
The Confusing Richard Baldwins of Buckinghamshire. Conclusions
stated by Haselton are following the work of H.F. Seversmith who
stated that no evidence of this Richard could be found in any
document after his father's will.
Caroline R. McBride, baldwin-l@@rootsweb.com, 1 August 1997. Ca. 1530
- 18 February 1631/2. Eight children are listed: Richard, Timothy,
Nathaniel, Joseph, Alice, Agnes, Cicely, and Lettice. These are
attributed to other parents in this file.
H.F. Seversmith 1939, Colonial Families of Long Island, New York, and
Connecticut, Being the Ancestry and kindred of Herbert Furman
Seversmith, vol. 1, p. 248. Was not mentioned in will of mother in
1566 and thus presumed deceased. Likely never married and no
children.
