Note 1: Will of David Weaver mentions children and spouse.
Note 2: The tax and land records of Oglethorpe Co., GA help
us to draw conclusions about the other children of David
notlisted in his will. Note 3: Per Sara Weaver Brooks of
Shepardstown, WV, the1800 census shows 8 sons. Over the
years she has worked out and determined them as follows:
Before moving to GA, David had a son, Peter born May 17,
1771, then Reuben was born about 1775 and is on the 1796
tax digest for Oglethorpe Co. Then Simeon who was born
about 1777 and listed in the 1800 tax digest,Oglethorpe
Co. Samuel was born about 1779. David Jr was never on the
tax digest because he lived on land drawn by David Sr in
Baldwin Co. cut of intoPutnam (other half was Reuben).
Mr. John P. Weaver was born about 1787 and lived in Coweta
Co. at one time. William B. Weaver was born about 1789.
SarahWeaver married a Mr. Wright. She was cut out of David
Sr's will as were Isham and Andrew. They all owned land on
Millstone Pond. Note 4: Data on this family had been
submitted by Sara Brooks and Margaret Main, Onalaska,
TX-She says David Weaver was born in Goochland, VA
(Manakinton). According to her, data on Samuel Weaver, Sr.
and Francoise L'Orange is from a Huegenot Society
publication #5. David, Sr. bought land in Albermarle in
1774. He and Massenbird sold land in 1788--Deed Book 6, pg
404. David then bought land in Wilkes Co., GA in 1793 on
Millstone Creek May 2, 1789--Deed Book EE, page 137. Estate
returns of David, Sr. have disappeared. Abt 1915 a Dr.
James D. Weaver ofEatonton, GA went to Oglethrope, GA and
copied the receipts of the heirs notmentioned in the will.
He wrote another desc. naming David Jr., Reuben, and
Samuel. These 3 had lived in Putnam Co., GA. It is possible
that there wereothers he did not mention. Dr. Weaver's
papers are thought to still be in existence but are
inaccessible at present. There was at least one other son
(unnamed), in a Putnam Co court paper, who went back to VA
about 1803 and diedthere soon after. The aforementioned
data was given to Ms Main by Leila Brittain of the
Eatonton-Putnam Historical Society. Later correspondence
was not responded to. Main has Weaver land records of
Oglethorpe Co., GA. Note 5: Another importnat submission on
this family came from Rev. J. William Dupree,of Valdosta,
GA. The information he has lended corresponds to the info
given by other submitters. He states that David Weaver died
in the section of Oglethorpe Co., GA which was cut from
Wilkes Co., GA. He served in the VirginiaMilitia during
the Revolutionary War. While living in Oglethorpe, GA he
drew lottery land in 1804. CENSUS: 1800 Oglethorpe Co., GA
