William RATLIFF 
William was born about 1724 in Virginia. William's father was Robert Ratliff and his mother was Mary Touchstone. His paternal grandfather was Richard Ratliff. He had eight brothers and a sister, named Richard, Daniel Stephen, Samuel, Silas, Reuben, Ruben, Benjamin, Willam and Lydia. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children. He died about 1821 in Pike Co.,KY.General Notes

WILLIAM RATCLIFFE Wife's name unknown. Married about 1760, probably inVirginia. William was born about 1730, in Henry, Augusta, or BotetourtCounty, Virginia, died between 1821 and 1825, possibly the son of RichardRatliff, who had a farm close to one that William owned. William was afarmer. In March 1783, William was in Trigg's Company of MontgomeryCounty, Virginia Militia that included William Ratliff, Nathan Ratliff,and Richard Ratliff. William owned property in Augusta, Botetourt, andMontgomery Counties in Virginia, all of these were first Augusta County,then were cut into Botetourt and finally Montgomery. William could havelived in one place all the time and the names changed around him. Williamreceived a grant of 180 acres on Cedar Run of Elliott's Creek adjoiningMartin's land on April 15, 1796, in that portion of Botetourt Countywhich was annexed to Montgomery County, Virginia in 1789. In the meantimeWilliam and his family plus part of Nathan's family, had moved to RussellCounty, Virginia in 1787. In about 1797 they moved to Kentucky. Williampossibly may have had other children Jake, born about 1750; John, bornabout 1752; Shadrack, born about 1754; Reuben, born about 1759 andmarried Frances; William Jr., born about 1767; and Peggy, born about 1771and married William Harrel.
