Thomas was born in 1452 in Adlington, Macclesfield, Cheshire, England.1 Thomas' father was Robert De Legh and his mother was Ellen Booth. His paternal grandparents were Robert Legh and Isabel (Maud) Belgrave; his maternal grandparents were Robert Booth and Dulcia De Venables. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named Robert, James De, Peter, Reginald De, William De, Margaret De, Isabel De, Agnes De, Elizabeth De, Dulcia, Matilda De and Ellen De.
