Her paternal grandparents were George Powers and Harriet Day; her maternal grandparents were Dr. Ansel B. White and Eldora Bryant. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Elmer, Charles Franklin, Perry Winfield, John C., Carl Cleveland, Clyde "James", Zylpha Ellen, Ida M., Rachel and Chloe.-
