Edward was born about 1650 in of Kemeys,Kemeys Inferior,Monmouthshire,England. Edward's father was Edward Kemeys Esquire and his mother was Frances Lewis. His paternal grandparents were William Kemeys Esquire and Anne Jones. He had a brother and two sisters, named William, Frances and Anne. He was the second oldest of the four children.
