William Johnston

William was born about 1522 in Scotland.¹ William's father was James Johnston and his mother was Clara Barclay. His paternal grandparents were William Johnston and Margaret Meldrum; his maternal grandfather was Barklay of Gartlie (or Gartile). He was an only child. He died in 1547 in the Battle of Pinke in Scotland.¹
