His paternal grandparents were Henry of Duke of Franconia and Carinthia Franconia and Adelaide (Adelheid) of Alsace; his maternal grandparents were Hermann II Duke of Swabia and Gerberge of Princess of Burgundy Burgundy. He had four half-brothers named Liudolf Count Of, Ernst II Duke of, Hermann IV Duke of Swabia and Leopold Duke of. He died at the age of 38 on October 5th, 1056 in Bodfeld Hartz.
