James Lewis Dewees 
James Lewis was born in 1824 in Licking County,Ohio. James Lewis' father was Samuel Dewees and his mother was Mary (Polly) Dugan. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Dewees and Catherine Spencer; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Dugan and Rebecca Fowler. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Alonzo, William, Samuel, Margaret and Lucinda Orilla. He was the second youngest of the six children.-
